Texas Panhandle War Memorial

Add to plan Remove from plan

We have a lovely park maintained by the Randall County Master Gardeners. The Park features monolith memorials to over 1,550 Panhandle residents who gave their lives in war for our freedom. We have a F-100 Super Sabre supersonic jet, a Huey helicopter, and the largest donated piece of the USS Arizona in the world.

Inside the War Memorial Center, we have displays of military artifacts and art donated by Panhandle residents. See the most highly classified piece of aircraft equipment in WWII. Operate a cricket, an essential piece of gear on D-Day. Learn about the only battle in US military history in which every soldier was awarded the Medal of Honor – it occurred right here in the Texas Panhandle!

Enjoy our Education Center's five computer kiosks which feature information on 11 US wars beginning with the Revolutionary War. Watch the moving images projected on our 11-foot walls. Our Education center is unique in that we cover a broad range of US wars rather than only one war. Our Education Center also has three monitors which display oral histories of Panhandle residents who lived during WWII and the Vietnam War. A third monitor displays geographic information on the 11 wars, showing the countries involved and locations of major battles. A great, fun learning experience!
